Uncertain future for Zimbabwe as opposition leader withdraws from race

25/6/08

The withdrawal of candidate, Morgan Tsvangirai, from the run-off election for the presidency of Zimbabwe is understandable and reflects the level of intimidation and brutality towards opposition supporters.

“We can't ask the people to cast their vote on June 27 when that vote will cost their lives. We will no longer participate in this violent sham of an election," Tsvangirai said on Sunday 22nd June.

Knox to travel to Milne Bay

10 students and 4 staff members from Knox Grammar School, Sydney, with a doctor, travelled to Milne Bay, Papua New Guinea on July 1st to stay in the village of Lelehudi.

Whilst in the village the students helped build two toilets as part of UCOA’s Sanitation Project in Milne Bay. It is hoped that this is just the beginning of a long term relationship between Knox Grammar and the people of Milne Bay.
